For some months now LWOB has been engaged in a large scale research project dealing with the issues of inheritance and land ownership of children in several African nations whose parents are dying of HIV AIDS. This project has involved the New York and London offices ofæ four international law firms that have engaged a total of 30-40 firm lawyers to conduct research preliminary to launching outreach, training and implementation of the project.
Currently two LWOB law school volunteers are in Kigali, [shown in photo] gathering statutory and code materials and anecdotal information necessary to complete the research. They are also identifying potential partners on the ground who will meet withæ LWOB lawyers expected to visit the region in September/October and again,æ later in the year.
The project is expected to launch in Rwanda, with follow up implementation in Uganda, Tanzania and Mozambique in years to follow. æ
