As LWOB makes final preparations for its counsel training in Liberia it has been confirmed for us by our mission representative, during now our third visit to the country, that the need by lawyers for manual typewriters is pressing.
LWOB has set the goal to have each of our trainers bring 1-2 manual typewriters to the country in May 2007. We have a fundraiser dinner being planned for the end of March in New York City and are looking for a vendor to donate or sell at a significantly discounted cost, new manual typewriters, with carrying case, for the bar in Monrovia, Liberia.
Manual typewriters are needed because the country has yet to re-establish its electrical grid. We will therefore be looking for replacement ribbons, carbon paper and other items which will facilitate non-electricity dependent operations to support the court system and lawyers working withinææLiberia.
Your donations can enhance our program, encourage participation by the local bar, and help us leave a legacy of support and capacity building among our colleagues around the world, and in this case,æ throughout Liberia--a country working so hard to re-build.
